
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (May 30, 2026) – Fort Lauderdale United FC’s USL League Two Men’s side dropped its first match of the season on Saturday evening, falling 0-1 to Miami AC in a physical match at Beyond Bancard Field. With the result, Fort Lauderdale’s four-match unbeaten start has come to a close in the final match of its homestand but the club will have a chance to return to the win column in the first game of a three-match road trip, traveling to take on Brevard SC.
The first half was a physical 45 minutes, with both sides threatening to take the lead on numerous occasions. In its fifth match of the season, Fort Lauderdale opted to make six changes to the starting lineup. The attack, headlined by captain Owen Barnett, had multiple chances to take the lead but the clubs went into the halftime break at a scoreless tie.
The physical match continued into the second half, with both clubs fighting for a winner. Miami AC earned a penalty kick in the 65th minute and hit from the spot, taking the lead with under 30 minutes to go. Fort Lauderdale’s best chance to equalize came after an incredible pass from Matthew Gordon found David Garces in the box. The forward took a touch and fired a shot into the top right corner, but it was denied by the Miami AC keeper. Fort Lauderdale kept pressing for an equalizer, but after 90 minutes, it dropped its first match of the season to Miami AC at home.

Our Fort Lauderdale United FC USL League Two team will return to the pitch on Wednesday, June 3 in the first of a three-match road trip, travelling to take on Brevard SC at Kelly Stadium.
