FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (June 26, 2026) – Fort Lauderdale United FC’s USL League Two squad has enjoyed a dominant start to the 2026 campaign. After reaching the Southern Conference Final in its inaugural season, Fort Lauderdale has picked up right where it left off, putting together an impressive run through the first nine matches of the club’s second League Two season. Led by Head Coach Marc Lue Young, Fort Lauderdale will look to carry its momentum into the final stretch of the regular season before making another deep postseason run.
Fort Lauderdale has controlled the South Florida Division, climbing to No. 16 in the latest USL League Two Power Rankings after racing out to an 8-1-0 start. The well-balanced squad has scored 19 goals while conceding just three, compiling two separate four-match winning streaks along the way. With the regular season entering its final stretch, Fort Lauderdale is closing in on a berth in the 35-team USL League Two Playoffs, which begin in mid-July.
The attack has been led by dynamic forward Malher Santi Possu (4G), dangerous attacker Leonardo D’Ambrosio (3G) and creative midfielder Owen Barnett (2G), while defender Fabrizio Cubeddu has added two goals from the back line to round out one of the most productive units in USL League Two. Defensively, Team of the Month selection Idrissa Mane has anchored the back line, while goalkeeper Nigel Van Haveren has recorded six clean sheets and conceded just three goals through nine matches.
With three matches remaining in the 2026 season, Fort Lauderdale will look to close out the campaign on a high note and bring that momentum into the League Two Playoffs.
