FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (September 13, 2025) – Fort Lauderdale United FC (2-0-2, 8 PTS) earned its first home victory of the season on Saturday evening, defeating Dallas Trinity FC (3-1-0, 9 PTS) 4-1 at Beyond Bancard Field. Midfielder Kelli Van Treeck scored her first two professional goals and forward Kiara Locklear added her third of the season in the dominant win. With the result, Fort Lauderdale climbs to second in the Super League standings while posting the highest goal total by any team in a match this season and extending its unbeaten start to four matches with back-to-back wins. In fact, the four goals marked the most Fort Lauderdale has ever scored in a single match in club history.
Fort Lauderdale United will now enjoy more than two weeks of rest before opening a three-match road swing at Brooklyn FC on Sunday, September 28. The sides split the season series in the inaugural campaign with two wins each, making the upcoming clash a key test for Fort Lauderdale as it looks to maintain its early-season momentum.
Fort Lauderdale opened with the same intensity it showed in last weekend’s victory, highlighted by a pair of impressive plays in the fourth minute. Darya Rajaee found Van Treeck down the right side with a perfect pass, and Lily Nabet – who was making her Fort Lauderdale United debut – dribbled past her defender and sent in a cross that just missed Jasmine Hamid. Coming off her first clean sheet of the season, goalkeeper Bella Hara was called into action early, making a save on a point-blank header to keep the match scoreless. Hamid was a constant threat down the left flank in the first half, slipping a perfect pass to Van Treeck whose shot went just wide of the net.
The breakthrough came in the 16th minute after Hamid and Locklear combined to break into the Dallas box. The ball deflected into Van Treeck’s path, and the midfielder took a touch and fired into the back of the net to give Fort Lauderdale the lead. The pressure continued as the half went on, with Stella Nyamekye forcing a save from distance in the 19th minute and captain Sh’nia Gordon creating back-to-back chances in the 24th and 25th minutes for Van Treeck and Nyamekye. Van Treeck nearly doubled the advantage herself in the 28th minute. Just over 10 minutes later, Hamid produced another impressive run down the left and was fouled just inches outside the box. Nyamekye’s free kick was initially cleared, but Rajaee sent the ball back into the area and it deflected off a Dallas defender and into the net for an own goal, giving Fort Lauderdale a 2-0 lead as it went into the halftime break.
Nabet starred early in the second half, threading perfect through balls to Locklear in the 48th and 56th minutes. Fort Lauderdale made its first change in the 58th minute, bringing on midfielder Kat González for Nabet, who impressed in her debut after arriving this past week. The advantage was doubled just over a minute later. A cross from Gordon fell to Hamid, who controlled and slipped the ball to Van Treeck in the box. The midfielder calmly slotted home to complete her brace and put Fort Lauderdale up three with just over 30 minutes remaining.
The pressure continued as Lilly McCarthy entered for Rajaee in the 72nd minute. Dallas pulled one back a minute later to cut the lead to two, but the response was immediate. Locklear broke in behind the Dallas defense, beat the keeper with an inside cut and fired a shot into the back of the net for her third goal of the season through four matches to extend the lead back to three. Sheyenne Allen (’83), Carlyn Baldwin (’83) and Allie George (’88) entered late for Hamid, Nyamekye and Julia Grosso to help close out the match. Behind a dominant team performance on all levels, Fort Lauderdale saw out a record-breaking 4-1 victory over Dallas Trinity FC.
