
MIAMI, Fla. – Fort Lauderdale United FC’s USL League Two Men’s team tied its matchup with FC Miami City on Saturday evening, 1-1, in a hard-fought match on the road. Fort Lauderdale United recorded its first draw of the season in the match, moving the club to 7-1-2 in its first 10 matches in its inaugural season. The club will now turn its attention to a rivalry match with Weston FC on Wednesday, June 25 on the road – a team it defeated 2-0 at home on May 21.
The match got off to a balanced start, with both sides maintaining possession and building attacks from behind. With the match headed towards a scoreless first half, FC Miami City took the lead in the 42nd minute. Fort Lauderdale wouldn’t find the net before the end of the half, and the club went into the halftime break trailing 0-1.
Carlos Zambrano came to the rescue of the Fort Lauderdale team in the 60th minute. After a pinpoint cross from defender Joackim Betina, Zambrano soared in and headed the ball into the back of the net to equalize. With its eyes on three points, FTL UTD kept the pressure on down the stretch, repeatedly putting shots on frame, but the club was unable to breakthrough. After 90 minutes, Fort Lauderdale United earned a hard-fought point on the road against FC Miami City in a 1-1 draw.

Our Fort Lauderdale United FC USL League Two team will return to the pitch on Wednesday, June 25 for its third consecutive road match, travelling to take on Weston FC. With kick-off set for 6:30 p.m., Wednesday’s match is a rematch between a team that Fort Lauderdale already defeated 2-0 on May 21.
