FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (July 8, 2026) – Fort Lauderdale United FC’s USL League Two Men’s squad earned a hard-fought victory on Wednesday evening, taking down rival Weston FC, 1-0, in the home finale. Local product Logan Hall’s goal earned the club all three points, clinching the South Florida Division title and clinched a USL League Two Playoff berth for the second consecutive season, and the club will close out its regular season on Sunday against Lakeland United FC on the road.
The first half was the most physical and intense 45 minutes possible, with both teams committing hard fouls on each end. Fort Lauderdale nearly took the lead on numerous occasions, starting with Malher Santi Possu just missing the net on a corner kick in the 8th minute. The club inched closer, hitting the woodwork twice with Michael Appiah in the 15th minute and Leonardo D’Ambrosio in the 31st. Fort Lauderdale continued to press, but was unable to find a goal and went into the halftime break in a scoreless draw.
Marc Lue Young made a trio of changes early into the second half, bringing Hall, Kameron Lacey and Cole Frame onto the pitch in the 56th minute. Just 12 minutes later, a close-range free kick from Owen Barnett found Idrissa Mane inside the box. The Team of the Month defender headed the ball into the six-yard box, where Hall stuck his foot out and put the ball into the back of the net and emphatically celebrated by the corner flag. Fort Lauderdale continued to press, looking to double its lead, but was unable to as it earned a 1-0 victory over its rivals while earning the Division title.
