MIAMI, Fla. (June 6, 2026) – Fort Lauderdale United FC’s USL League Two Men’s side returned to the win column on Saturday evening, defeating FC Miami City, 3-0, on the road. Midfielder Leonardo D’Ambrosio recorded a brace off the bench, while Ronaldo Belgrove scored his first goal of the campaign as Fort Lauderdale earned all three points in Miami. With the victory, Fort Lauderdale has opened its road trip with back-to-back wins and will look to carry that form into next Saturday’s revenge game against Miami AC on the road.
The match was physical from the opening whistle, with both teams stretching the field in search of an early advantage. Fort Lauderdale displayed its well-rounded dominance on both sides of the pitch, putting together multiple dangerous attacks while maintaining a stalwart back-line. Neither club was able to find the back of the net, sending both teams into the break with a scoreless draw.
The second half opened much like the first, but everything changed when D’Ambrosio came onto the pitch in the 58th minute. The dangerous attacker found the back of the net just two minutes later, and recorded his second in the 62nd minute to complete one of the quickest, most dominant braces in club history. Belgrove, another super-sub, put the game out of reach with an unbelievable display of individual brilliance in the 90th minute. The forward toyed with his defender on the left wing, slowly creeping towards the box before he unloaded a perfect, right-footed shot that hit the top corner to put the game to bed, securing a 3-0 win on the road for Fort Lauderdale.
