FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (June 3, 2026) – Fort Lauderdale United FC’s USL League Two Men’s side opened its road trip with a victory on Wednesday evening, taking down Brevard SC, 2-1. Fabrizio Cubeddu scored his second goal of the campaign, while an own goal helped the club secure all three points on the road. With the victory, Fort Lauderdale returns to the win column with its fifth of the season, and the club will look to carry that momentum into Saturday’s road clash vs. FC Miami City.
Much like the first half from the previous matchup against Miami AC, the initial 45 minutes was a hard-fought affair. Led by captain Owen Barnett, the Fort Lauderdale attack was active early on as it searched for an opening goal. Both clubs pressed on in search of the back of the net, but neither club would, and the teams went into the break with a scoreless scoreline.
Fort Lauderdale dominated the early stages of the second half, taking the lead in the 48th minute after Raul Leyva sent in a perfect corner kick from the right side. Cubeddu soared in and headed the ball into the back of the net with force, giving Fort Lauderdale the lead. The advantage was doubled just two minutes later after another perfect pass from Leyva found Rafael Coronado with space on the right wing. The forward beat his defender and sent a shot into the box that was deflected into the net as an own goal, extending Fort Lauderdale’s lead. Brevard fought back and lowered the deficit from the penalty spot, but after 90 minutes, Fort Lauderdale earned a 2-1 victory on the road.
