FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (July 15, 2025) – Fort Lauderdale United FC is excited to announce the signing of former Stanford goalkeeper Haley Craig ahead of the 2025/26 Gainbridge Super League season, pending league and federation approval.
“Craig is a standout talent with strong experience at the top collegiate level and has been part of the U.S. Youth National Team system,” said Ali Rogers, Associate Head Coach of Fort Lauderdale United FC. “Her athleticism, work ethic and high ceiling make her an exciting addition to our goalkeeping unit.”
A commanding presence between the posts, Craig is an exceptional shot-stopper with the ability to make high-level saves both in the air and on the ground with consistency. Comfortable with the ball at her feet, Craig fits seamlessly into the tactical style Fort Lauderdale brings to every match.
“We’ve had our eye on Craig for a while, and we couldn’t be more excited to officially bring her on board this season,” said Aly Hassan, General Manager of Fort Lauderdale United FC. “She’s a dynamic goalkeeper with a serious presence, sharp instincts and a winning mentality. We’re pumped to see the impact she’ll make for us.”
A native of Dexter, Michigan, Craig brings extensive experience from the U.S. Youth National Team system – having represented both the U-17 and U-19 squads – and she was a key piece of the U-17 squad that captured the UEFA Development Tournament title in 2019. Craig went on to play collegiately at Stanford, where she spent four seasons developing into one of the top goalkeepers in the country, capping her career with a dominant senior campaign in 2024.
In her final collegiate season, Craig logged 2,081 minutes in goal for a top-five ranked Stanford side, recording 12 shutouts over 23 matches while making 58 saves and allowing just 18 goals. Craig played a pivotal role in leading the Cardinal to the NCAA National Semifinal, with her standout moment coming in a thrilling Round of 16 shootout win over Arkansas. In the decisive penalty kicks, she saved a pair of shots and stepped up to bury one of her own, sealing a 4-2 victory for Stanford.
Following her collegiate career, Craig signed a roster-relief contract with the NWSL’s Portland Thorns ahead of their Concacaf W Champions Cup matches against Tigres UANL and Club América, and was named to the matchday roster for both contests.
A young but experienced goalkeeper, Craig will bring depth, composure and high-level athleticism to Fort Lauderdale United’s goalkeeping room as the club reloads its roster in pursuit of another Super League Final.
