LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. – Fort Lauderdale United FC’s USL League Two Men’s side fell to Sarasota Paradise on Wednesday evening, 3-0. The loss marks just the second in club history through nine matches, and the team will now shift its focus to a third consecutive road test on Saturday evening against FC Miami City – a team it previously defeated 2-0 on May 28 at home.
The match appeared headed into halftime scoreless, but a stoppage-time goal gave Sarasota the lead just before the break. Fort Lauderdale came out of the locker room with urgency, controlling possession and testing the Sarasota goalkeeper in search of an equalizer. The deficit was extended after Sarasota struck again in the 69th and 85th minutes, putting the match out of reach for FTL UTD. After 90 minutes, Fort Lauderdale United fell 0-3 to Sarasota Paradise – the first time this season that the club has been held scoreless in a match.
