
LAKELAND, Fla. – Fort Lauderdale United FC’s USL Academy League team had a decisive 6-1 win on the road against Kings Hammer FC – Sun City. The club had five different goalscorers, with a brace from midfielder Agustin Malec. FTL UTD remains undefeated, with a 3-0-1 record on the season as it gets a two-week break before its next match.
Malec got on the scoresheet early for Fort Lauderdale, getting his first goal of the game in the 6th minute. Kings Hammer equalized in the 26th minute to make the score 1-1 halfway through the first half. Fort Lauderdale retook the lead in the 32nd minute with a goal from defender Shayne Thompson. The lead extended to 3-1 just before halftime in the 45th minute, as midfielder Jordan Mangatal got his goal.
Fort Lauderdale kept the goal-scoring momentum in the second half, with Malec scoring his second goal of the game in the 66th minute. Defender Christopher Jean-Francois made the score 5-1 in the 81st minute, and substitute forward Joaquin Guerrero scored the sixth and final goal of the game in the 87th minute, securing the three points.
Our Fort Lauderdale United FC USL Academy League squad will return to the pitch on Tuesday, July 1 for a home rematch against Miami AC at AutoNation Field at FTL UTD Training Facility. Kick-off is set for 7:00 pm.
