FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Fort Lauderdale United FC’s USL League Two Men’s team defeated Kings Hammer Sun City on Friday evening, 3-0, in another dominant home match at Beyond Bancard Field. Johan Arevalo, Carlos Zambrano and Ethan Subachan each pitched impressive, highlight-reel goals in the commanding win. With their goals tonight, Zambrano and Subachan have scored in each of the team’s first three matches. With the victory, Fort Lauderdale United has won its first three matches in club history and will look to extend its momentum into a Wednesday night matchup with FC Miami City at Beyond Bancard Field.
From the opening whistle, Fort Lauderdale controlled the tempo and piled on the pressure. The club routinely tested the opposing keeper, nearly scoring on multiple occasions in the early stages of the match. The breakthrough came in the 26th minute when Subachan blazed down the right wing and fired a shot that forced a save. Arevalo pounced on the rebound and slotted it home to give FTL UTD a well-deserved 1-0 lead.
After an impressive showing of skill in the middle of the field, Zambrano was fouled just outside of the Kings Hammer Sun City box. Fort Lauderdale’s No. 10 stood over the ball, walked up and sent a curling shot that hit the woodwork, bouncing past the keeper to extend the lead to 2-0 in the 36th minute. Following his trend of passionate celebrations, Zambrano did an emphatic knee slide before he celebrated with his teammates. After a pair of first-half goals, FTL UTD went into the halftime break with a comfortable two goal advantage.
In the 60th minute, a world-class screamer from Subachan put the game out of reach. After a perfect through-ball pass from defender Idrissa Mane, Subachan was played behind the Kings Hammer Sun City defense on the right wing. The in-form Subachan took a pair of touches, cut inside and sent a rocketing shot to the far top corner, beating the keeper on a perfect left-footed shot. The Fort Lauderdale defense continued its dominance over the next 30 minutes, helping the club secure a 3-0 victory at home over Kings Hammer Sun City, its third consecutive shutout victory.
