FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The USL Super League announced Thursday afternoon that a trio of Fort Lauderdale United FC players were named to the March Team of the Month. Defender Laurel Ansbrow, goalkeeper Cosette Morche and forward Sh’Nia Gordon were recognized for their efforts in helping FTL UTD maintain an unbeaten record in March (2W, 2D).
Ansbrow has been with Fort Lauderdale United for two months, and has earned a spot on the Super League’s Team of the Month in both March and February. The Wake Forest product played all 360 minutes for FTL UTD in March, recording 24 clearances, 7 tackles, and 2 interceptions. Her strong performances were pivotal to Fort Lauderdale’s back-line, as the team conceded just 2 goals over the course of their four matches. In fact, the defender joins Addie McCain and Jasmine Hamid as the only FTL UTD players to be named to the TOTM at least twice this season.
The dominant Morche is making her first appearance on the Team of the Month list this season after a standout March. The Texas A&M alum played every minute of all four matches for Fort Lauderdale United, earning 2 clean sheets, saving 8 shots while conceding just 2 goals. A brick wall in goal, Morche stepped up on multiple occasions to deny the opposition across the four matches and push FTL UTD to its third consecutive unbeaten month.
The dynamic and electric Gordon continues to rise and improve as the season progresses, earning her first Team of the Month nod for the month of March. The West Virginia product scored a brace in the road win against Brooklyn FC and provided a perfect cross to assist Hamid on the game-tying goal in the match against Tampa Bay Sun FC. Gordon continued to showcase her skill on the right side throughout the month, and as the playoffs approach, she will be a crucial piece for the Fort Lauderdale squad.
