FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Fort Lauderdale United FC has announced the signing of goalkeeper Erin McKinney from the Houston Dash of the National Women’s Soccer League, bolstering the club’s goalkeeper room as the playoff push in the inaugural USL Super League season heats up.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Erin to our roster. She brings valuable experience from excelling at the collegiate level and gaining exposure in the NWSL,” said Associate Head Coach Alissa Rogers. “Her shot-stopping ability, composure, and proficiency with the ball at her feet will be key assets in strengthening our goalkeeping unit.”
McKinney makes her way to South Florida after spending time in the NWSL, where she started one match with the Dash. In her NWSL debut against the KC Current in the 2024 NWSL x LIGA MX Femenil Summer Cup, McKinney played all 90 minutes, making 5 saves while completing 16 passes. McKinney also spent the 2024 preseason with the Chicago Red Stars and spent time with Gotham FC as a replacement for an injured player.
The Illinois native was a mainstay for Wisconsin as a graduate student in 2022-23, playing 3,657 minutes while starting 41 matches over that two-year span. In her final season as a Badger, McKinney allowed just 15 goals in 22 matches en route to being named to the All-Big Ten Third Team while being awarded Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week a trio of times.
