FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (October 1, 2026) – Fort Lauderdale United FC (1-5-0, 3 PTS) returns to the road Friday evening, taking on Brooklyn FC (1-5-0, 3 PTS) at Maimonides Park. Fort Lauderdale will look to earn its third-ever win at Maimonides Park and its first road victory of the campaign, while Brooklyn aims to win its second match in three games. The teams are meeting for the second time this season, with Fort Lauderdale earning its lone win of the campaign against Brooklyn on August 28 at Amerant Bank Field. With both clubs looking for their second win of the season, Friday’s matchup presents an important opportunity for Fort Lauderdale to open October on a strong note.
Fort Lauderdale United enters Friday’s meeting after a week of rest following two heartbreaking losses to Dallas Trinity FC and DC Power FC. Despite the results, Fort Lauderdale’s attack is in its best form of the season, with Sh’nia Gordon, Daniela Todd, Farrah Walters, Kiara Locklear and Abi Hugh creating numerous chances across the past three matches. The midfield will play its first match without Nicole Vernis following her loan departure, setting the stage for Kelli Van Treeck and Taylor Smith to control the middle of the park. The back line is led by the elite trio of Haley Thomas, Kelsey Oyler and Ella Simpson, while Haley Craig will look to add to her club-record saves total and record another clean sheet. With Fort Lauderdale needing three points, Friday’s matchup presents another important opportunity to earn a result on the road.
Despite sitting in last place in the Gainbridge Super League standings, Brooklyn FC enters Friday’s matchup in its best form of the young season. The club earned its first win of the campaign against Sporting JAX before narrowly falling to top-seeded Carolina Ascent FC. Brooklyn is led by September Team of the Month honoree and top scorer Catherine Zimmerman (2G), while Jackie Richards and Sophia Lowenberg lead the team in minutes played. In goal, Bre Norris has made 16 saves across six starts and will look to slow down an in-form Fort Lauderdale attack.
