FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (September 24, 2026) – Fort Lauderdale United FC announced today that midfielder Nicole Vernis has been recalled from her loan by Lexington SC and will depart the club. Vernis, who started all six matches of the 2026 Gainbridge Super League season, leaves the club just ahead of the midway point of the campaign.
Vernis joined Fort Lauderdale on loan ahead of the 2026 campaign and immediately slotted into the starting lineup, logging 506 minutes during her time in South Florida. The midfielder scored Fort Lauderdale’s first goal of the campaign, which proved to be the game-winner in the club’s victory over Brooklyn FC on August 28. Vernis was a driving force in the midfield and attack, ranking second on the team in key passes (8) and fourth in passing accuracy (77.5%) as she played a key role in the middle of the park.
