DOTHAN, Ala. (July 16, 2026) – Fort Lauderdale United FC’s USL League Two Men’s squad opened its 2026 USL League Two Playoff campaign on Thursday evening, earning a dominant 4-0 victory over Swarm FC in Dothan, Alabama. Michael Appiah, Joackim Betina, Owen Barnett and Kameron Lacey each found the back of the net in the club’s season-best goal output, sending Fort Lauderdale to the Southern Conference Semifinal on Saturday evening. With the victory, Fort Lauderdale has won seven of its last eight matches and the club will look to carry that momentum into Saturday’s clash with Brave SC.
Fort Lauderdale jumped out in front in the fifth minute after an impressive run down the left side from Appiah. The winger made a Swarm defender miss and used his pace to get into the box, sending a shot to the far post to give Fort Lauderdale an early advantage. From that point, Fort Lauderdale never looked back, going into the halftime break with a 1-0 lead.
The second half opened just like the first, as Fort Lauderdale found the back of the net just six minutes in. Betina used his skill to make a Swarm defender miss, firing a left-footed shot to the far post to beat the keeper and double the lead. Barnett continued his standout season, scoring Fort Lauderdale’s third goal of the game in the 68th minute. Lacey put the game to bed with a calm and composed strike from the penalty spot in stoppage time, sending Fort Lauderdale into the Southern Conference Semifinals with a dominant 4-0 victory.
