Host Family Program FAQs
What is a Host Family?
A host family provides housing for a professional women’s soccer player during the season. This includes a private bedroom and a supportive home environment while the player trains, competes, and travels with the team.
How long is the commitment?
Commitments vary based on players needs and season length. The professional season is divided into two phases:
- First Half: July – December
- Second Half: January – May
In addition, the club operates a USL W League team that runs from May through the summer months, which may also require host family placements. Specific timelines and expectations will always be communicated in advance.
What does the team provide?
The club offers ongoing support, clear expectations, and consistent communication. Players are professionals and are responsible for their own schedules, transportation, and personal expenses unless otherwise specified.
What is expected of the host family?
Host families are asked to provide: A private bedroom (private bathroom preferred), access to laundry and kitchen facilities, a respectful, safe, and supportive living environment, no transportation, or meals are required unless mutually agreed upon.
What are the players’ schedules like?
Players spend most of their time training, recovering, competing, or traveling. They value rest, routine, and professionalism and are often out of the home for much of the day.
Can families with children or pets apply?
Yes. Families with children and/or pets are welcome to apply. Compatibility will be considered during the matching process.
Is a background check required?
Yes. All members of the host family must complete a background check and approval process prior to placement.
Can host families set house rules?
Absolutely. Clear house expectations are encouraged and will be discussed prior to placement to ensure a positive experience for both the host family and the player.
What happens if the placement isn’t a good fit?
The club prioritizes positive and respectful placements. If any concerns arise, staff will work closely with both parties to address issues or adjust housing arrangements if necessary.
