Hassan, who will continue overseeing the club’s Gainbridge Super League women’s team, brings extensive professional playing experience, player development expertise, and deep connections throughout South Florida’s soccer community.
A former professional forward and Weston native, Hassan began his professional career with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers in 2012 following his collegiate career at Nova Southeastern University. His decade-long playing career included stops with Ottawa Fury, Carolina RailHawks, Charlotte Independence, San Antonio FC, Miami FC, New York Cosmos, and Bolivia’s Club Deportivo Aurora. Hassan also represented the United States at the U-20 national team level.
Since joining Fort Lauderdale United FC in 2024, Hassan has helped establish the club’s competitive foundation, overseeing domestic and international recruitment, player development, and roster construction.

His contributions helped guide the women’s professional team to the Gainbridge Super League Final during its inaugural season.
Now, Hassan will bring that experience to building a competitive USL League One roster while creating meaningful opportunities for emerging South Florida talent.
“Having grown up playing soccer in South Florida, I understand firsthand how much talent exists in our own backyard and how important it is to give young players something to aspire to,” said Hassan. “What we’ve accomplished with our women’s team has shown us what’s possible when you bring together the right people, create a strong culture, and give players an opportunity to succeed. Now, we have the chance to build on that foundation with our men’s team.” – said Hassan.

Central to Hassan’s vision is developing a sustainable pathway connecting the club’s youth academy, developmental programs, and professional teams. His extensive scouting relationships and understanding of the domestic soccer landscape will be instrumental in identifying promising players and preparing them for professional competition.
“This is about more than assembling a competitive roster for our first season. It’s about identifying the next generation of talent, investing in their development, and creating a pathway where young players can see a future for themselves playing professionally right here in Broward County. That’s something I take tremendous pride in, and I’m excited to help build a club this community can call its own.” said Hassan.

Tommy Smith, Founder and Chairman of Fort Lauderdale United FC, expressed his confidence in Hassan’s leadership and the opportunity ahead.
“Throughout our inaugural season, Aly has been a trusted and steady partner to our players, coaches, and front office staff. He is also a pillar of the local community,” said Smith. “We look forward to his ongoing leadership as we build Fort Lauderdale United FC into South Florida’s premier soccer destination.”
With Hassan leading the charge, Fort Lauderdale United FC enters its next chapter focused on building a competitive team, developing homegrown talent, and establishing a lasting professional soccer tradition in Broward County.
