Komen today announced an official community partnership focused on expanding breast cancer awareness, supporting survivors and helping South Florida families access information and resources that can make a lifesaving difference.
“We are honored to partner with South Florida’s only professional women’s soccer club during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and turn awareness into action on breast health,” said Gil Zepeda, Development Manager at Susan G. More than a single match or campaign, the partnership represents an annual commitment to use the reach of professional sports to inform, educate and help save lives. Fort Lauderdale United will leverage its players, supporters, corporate partners and communications platforms to amplify Komen’s mission, elevate survivor stories and encourage families throughout South Florida to take an active role in their health.

The partnership will take center stage during Breast Cancer Awareness Month when Fort Lauderdale United hosts Lexington SC on October 11 at Amerant Bank Field for the club’s “More Than Pink” game.
A portion of ticket proceeds will benefit Susan G. Komen, while the evening will provide a platform to recognize survivors, honor families affected by breast cancer and encourage the community to become more informed and engaged. The match will include a pre-game survivor walkout alongside Fort Lauderdale United players and additional Komen-focused storytelling and awareness throughout the evening. It will also help build momentum toward the 2026 Miami/Ft. Lauderdale More Than Pink Walk on October 17.
Throughout the partnership, Fort Lauderdale United and Susan G. Komen will continue finding meaningful ways to connect breast cancer awareness and education with the South Florida community, using storytelling, screening events and the collective reach of both organizations to keep the conversation going throughout the year.
Together, the organizations aim to make the partnership a lasting annual platform for awareness, education, early action and hope — ensuring that the reach of professional soccer can help strengthen the health and well-being of the community it represents.
