Delaney Lindahl signed with Fort Lauderdale United FC today as a defensive addition to its team for the 2024 inaugural USL Super League.
The California-bred has been a fundamental defensive player since joining Cal State Fullerton as a sophomore in 2018. Her ability to create offensive opportunities to score, combined with her aggressive defensive tactics, have molded her as a standout player.
Lindahl is a player who has an impact on the field, causing her to play a team-high of 1,917 minutes in 2019 and starting in all 21 of those games. Lindahl was a staple player on defense, helping her team achieve 11 shutouts, the second-best single-season total in school history. Moreover, she was instrumental in the Titans’ defense, which conceded only four goals in eight Big West matches, the best record in the league. Lindahl also made big plays offensively, such as making an assist to bring her team to win 3-2 versus Missouri. Her accomplishments in her junior season earned her All-Big West Second Team and All-West Region Third Team honors.
Lindahl possesses the ability to connect passes and progress plays throughout the field, which allowed her to record a career-high of five assists during her senior season in 2021. Lindahl also played a key role in helping her team execute seven shutouts.
Lindahl is a ruthless force on defense with her ability to read the game, make plays and execute precise tackles. She ended her collegiate career awarded to the All-Big West First Team, entering the professional stage on a high note.
Lindahl received a professional contract to play soccer for the Preston Lions Football Club in the NPL Division in Australia in 2023. She recorded 1,601 minutes this season, making 18 appearances and scoring four goals. Lindahl then played for the Romanian team FCU Olimpia Cluj in the prestigious UEFA Europa League.
